About Us

Nora O’Garro is a passionate “Event Planner” and the CEO and Owner of UnameIt Event Planning.  She has over 20 years of experience coordinating events.  Some of her signature events   include college reunions, family reunions, 40th and 50th wedding anniversaries, 16th, 18th, and 50th birthdays, company’s meeting luncheons and special recognitions, high school and college graduation parties.

 

Nora brings a wealth of expertise to her business which includes her accounting background, marketing, and outstanding managerial skills.  Her employment at 7-Eleven for 27 years ingrained in her the importance of “Customer Focus and Satisfaction”.  It is part of her motto “Service, Satisfaction with a Smile”.  In addition, Nora includes her creative side as a poet, seamstress, and out of the box designs to insure her clients receive a very unique and memorable experience.  She has no territorial boundaries or service limitations.

 

Nora has a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM.  She has certification in food handling.  She has served on the Board of Directors of two non-profit organizations – The I Have A Dream Foundation (1999 – 2010) and The National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. (NABA) (July 2006 – June 2013). She is a Community Activist and the founder of the Dallas Accounting Career Awareness Program (ACAP), under the DFW NABA Chapter. held annually on the campus of Southern Methodist University (It has existed for the last 14 years).  She has received numerous NABA awards which includes –   Western Region Outstanding Member of the Year – 2012; Western Region Distinguished Service Award – 2011, 2013-2014; National Community Service Award – 2010.  She received the Ernst and Young Diversity Inclusiveness Award – Individual of the Year – 2009.

 

Nora is the wife of Colin O’Garro.  She has four adult children and eight grandchildren – seven grandsons and one granddaughter (affectionally called “The Fab 7 and the Diva).  Nora is a ministry Leader for the Ladies Bible Class at her church and founder of the Women’s Financial Empowerment Class and Motivational Speaker.  She enjoys traveling, sewing, athletics and reading.

Where do I begin to show my gratitude towards such an amazing and memorable event you planned for my parents, Joe & Mary Sellers 50th Wedding Anniversary.  We have had so many compliments on the food and service.  The food, of course, was wonderful, but the service was spectacular.  The elegance of the table settings made the whole evening seem special.  I have been to other weddings anniversaries and nothing was even close to the ambiance you were able to achieve.
